Question by lil sammy: Need in-patient detox and rehab, but I’m so afraid?
I’ve had a drinking problem for several years. I am at the point of physical addiction where I become very anxious and sick feeling if I go too long without a drink.
I tried a private center before, but was mistreated by staff and another patient and checked out early.
During this time I developed a deep mistrust of doctors who I feel just chuck a bunch of pills at me without talking with me and giving me the help I truly want.
Can anyone tell me if they have been to a treatment facility that was nice and you were treated with respect? A place that had a caring staff that explains your treatments and helps you get the most benefit? It doesn’t matter where–I’d travel anywhere to fix this. Hell, I’d walk if I had to.
I’m starting to feel hopeless and am desperate for any advice.
Thank you very much.
Thanks everyone so far for kind answers! To clarify, the mistrust of docs has developed in the 2 years since my first rehab attempt. I’ve been given scary antidepressants and lots of sleeping pills. All of which just makes me feel crappier 🙁

There are rehab centers who will offer what you seem to be looking for. I’m sorry to hear about what happened the last time- But it’s not the first time I’ve seen such behavior in what are supposed to be professionals. Have you tried writing a letter of complaint to these people? And if you do, keep a copy for your own files in case they ‘lose’ it.
Since you have internet access, try running a Google search for addiction treatment centers and see what you find.
Good luck, Honey. I’ll be cheering for you!

In today’s always changing and fast-paced culture, many individuals pick up different types of health problems that originate from their failure to handle with the transitions around them. Unfortunately, many individuals manifest their incapacity to handle stress and the pressures of everyday living by falling into the trap of addiction.
Many individuals who are suffering from addiction are the ones which go through uncontrollable tendencies, that is normally the result of depression and anxiety. Usually, these individuals are not aware their addiction until it has totally consumed control over their lives.
You will discover different institutions that offer support and the all-important attention for those who want to uncover a treatment for their addiction and depression. Recovering addicts can count on rehabilitation centers such as Teenage Alcoholism Center to provide them a holistic healing solution that will not only allow them to encounter their particular unpleasant emotions but additionally help them learn the best ways to handle their own destructive thoughts and actions.
It is crucial for addicts to understand where their negative thoughts and harmful behavior are coming from. That’s where most drug rehab centers differ. Some rehabilitation centres concentrate mainly on the individuals unfavorable behavior and do not offer more focus on exactly what actually leads to their depression and altered thinking.
The most effective treatment is one that permits the recovering addicts to address their suffering and convey their feelings. Teenage Alcohism Center goes a step further by permitting the addicts to direct their valid feelings toward a far more resourceful strategy.
By providing addicts the chance to convey themselves creatively, Teenage Alcoholism Center successfully leads them to the most effective road to recovery. This all natural strategy to addiction recovery educates addicts to analyse their feelings and manage their problems by getting more in touch with their own senses.
There are 7 senses that examine info in a person’s environment, and these send out related signals to the brain. When addicts turn out to be more responsive to their senses (sight, smell, touch, taste, hearing, balance, and internal sensations), they at some point recognize that they cannot feel their thoughts. They understand that their depression and damaging thought processes are absolutely nothing but physical sensations.
By paying close focus on what they sense from their environment, addicts can easily search for the source of their distress. They discover that each time they get worried, their thoughts send signals to their brain. It is actually not the thought that they are feeling but their bodys response to the physical sensations initiated by the thought itself.
This is how it works. Whenever a person starts to get worried, he or she sends a thought of which the brain recognizes as a threat. The brain subsequently transmits information to the body to safeguard itself by releasing chemicals including adrenaline and cortisol. The body responds appropriately to the information sent by the brain, signals which can be triggered by the thoughts of a person who started stressing.
Simply by understanding this, addicts realize the importance of paying closer awareness of what they sense from their environment. They figure out how to manage their thoughts better to enable them to prevent the possible body reactions that can trigger their anxiety and depression. It is this type of addiction recovery approach that sets Teenage Alcoholism Center apart from the rest given it is where addicts learn to be better linked to their own humanity.
