Question by Maria: Is using a garbage disposal environmentally friendly?
I compost plant matter but meats or stuff that smells real bad when rotting, I don’t. It pains me to throw away meats and other compostables so I started to run then through the garbage disposable thinking the scraps will not wind up in a landfill. Is this better than throwing stuff away in garbage? Yes I’m Too lazy to ask my water dept & other stuff like that.

If you have a septic tank then yeah, it just decomposes in the tank. Otherwise it goes into the sewer and then goes through a series of filtration stations.
