Question by BrandonP: Information about the 12 step recovery program?
I’ve always wondered if someone goes to AA or another recovery program, like rehab or whatever… and they are introduced to the 12 step program but don’t believe in God, is there another 12 step program offered for them?

P.S… I live a sober lifestyle lol, I was just curious.

Not all recovery programs use the “12 step program.”

You do not have to believe in God to do the 12 step program. It is phrased “higher power” for that reason. This higher power does not have to be a deity. Just something, or some concept greater than yourself. It’s a step of hope, faith, and spirituality. Not necessarily specific to a deity.
